The return of The Red Melon!

Ok, I know I have talked about The Red Melon Indian Restaurant on more than one previous occasion, but we have just arrived back at the boat from an absolutely fantastic meal there this evening. This was totally different, and as such I believe it more than warrants another mention.

Sunday is Thali night, <Click> . We have never experienced anything like this before, and speaking to the owner, he tells us that as it is a fairly labour intensive event to put on, nobody else in the area is offering it, let alone as a £9.95 per person offer!

He tells us that Thali is a feast of smaller dishes, served together, and originates from Gujarat, in the Delhi area of India. On arrival complimentary poppadoms and chutneys arrived at our table immediately, while our drinks order was taken. We were then offered the menu to choose our options for the Thali.

The Thali comprises a mixed platter starter, a choice of two main courses, each with a further choice of two side dishes. A choice of Pilau rice and Nan bread, or Chapati and Puri and Raita and a complimentary Lassi  drink. My own choice of main courses was Chicken Jalfrezi and Chicken Balti, with side dishes of Bombay Aloo and vegetable Bhaji. We were then given complimentary coffee to finish, I think because we were one of their first customers after they opened in Summer 2010, and have been regulars since.

The restaurant was busy tonight, but the service was excellent and friendly as usual. The food was again served piping hot. We really can't fault it, and so far, this is by far our favourite Indian restaurant.

This whole experience was completely new to us and really was something to shout about. If you are passing Nantwich, give it a try, Welsh Row is only a short walk from excellent 48 hour moorings that are handy for the town. I hope your experience is as good as ours.
